Nova Scotia Schools Benefit from Keno’s Downfall
A short while ago officials in Nova Scotia decided to end the game of Keno. The game had not produced the types of numbers that officials had estimated so they decided to cut their losses and end the game. Now some schools in the area are benefiting from the end of Keno by receiving LCD televisions that were used with the game.

180 LCD televisions were used at the restaurants and bars that held the keno games and now Finance Minister Graham Steele has stated that the Education Department and the school board will be figuring out which schools in the area will be receiving the televisions.

Nova Scotia has about 430 schools and only 180 televisions are available. Each 42-inch television cost $900, which totals $162,000 that government officials spent on the televisions. This past Thursday was the last day for keno draws and bars and restaurants stopped selling tickets on Wednesday.

Nova Scotia just added the game in March but had not seen the revenues they had hoped for. The minister stated that the province would take a hit of over $3 million in losses for trying the game of keno.
