Nova Scotia Ends their Foray in Electronic Keno
On Monday the Finance Minister of Nova Scotia, Graham Steele, stated that the game of keno will no longer be in operation. The Minister has given bars and restaurants in Nova Scotia have thirty days notice that the government is shutting down the game.

Nova Scotia will be writing off their $3.4 million investment in the equipment used to operate the keno game. Steele commented that the game had not made near as much money as the government had expected. The province has lost money on the game but the Minister was unsure of how much was lost.

Steele commented: “It’s a money-losing game, and so what we’re doing, we’re cutting our losses before the hole gets any deeper. This was a mistake made by the previous government. It’s a mistake that’s going to cost $3.4 million, but we’re going to get out before we find the real human and financial cost.”

The electronic keno game will be fully out of commission in Nova Scotia by October 22nd. It may not come as a surprise to some people that the game did not do as well as expected. Several states in the United States, including Ohio, have seen less than stellar earnings from the keno game.
