First $10,000 contributed by Keno game in NebraskaIn November 2008 voters approved the addition of keno to Otoe County in Nebraska. The game started at The Clubhouse in April and games were then added to other establishments. The keno game has now contributed its first $10,000 to the county coffers by the end of last year.
By the last day of 2009, the county’s keno fund had grown to just over $10,000. The amount collected over the eight months of gaming in the county is below the estimates made by the county board before the contract approval with AGT.
AGT told commissioners that the county could earn just over $50,000 a year. But like many areas all over the world the game of keno has not done well, especially according to estimates. The county has a separate keno lottery fund and they have had no spending from that fund. The county receives up to ten percent of the keno proceeds and five percent of that goes to the Nebraska City’s general fund for games played within the city limits.
