The state Casino Control Commission in New Jersey has approved a new rule for the game of keno and slot machines in Atlantic City. The new rule change should bring in more money for the state which is desperately needed.

The Commission approved a new rule last week that will require winnings from slot machines and the game of keno at casinos in Atlantic City to be collected in one year. After the one year time period, any winnings that are not collected will then belong to the state and the casino.

Officials in the state have said there are $12.4 million in unclaimed winnings. Many of the unclaimed winnings are small amounts, most of the time in $1 increments. The first year deadline will be April 8th. So after that time, any vouchers given out will be good for one year from the time they are issued. This new rule only applies to slot machines and keno.
